More than local pride will be on the line when Chivas Guadalajara visit Atlas on Wednesday. An entire season rests in the balance.

Both clubs have stumbled through the first 15 weeks of the season. Chivas enter the evening with 18 points and sit 13th in the table. Atlas are one point behind and already eliminated from the Liguilla. A loss or draw for Chivas, however, will mathematically see an end to their playoff hopes. Three points will be enough to keep them alive, though barely.

Pachuca, Querétaro, Morelia, Monterrey and Veracruz are all ahead.

What They're Saying

Atlas manager Hugo Castillo (via Esto): "I don't care about Chivas Guadalajara. If Chivas are in a bad run of form, I'm not going to feel sorry for them. I'm worried about Atlas saving face and that's it. If Chivas are relegated, then they have to work to be promoted. There's no other option."

Chivas midfielder Israel Castro (via Esto): "We're focused on winning, in obtaining these last six points. First, we have to worry about this next game [against Atlas]. That's the idea. We have to win and we need the points. That's the team's mentality."
