In the quiet of night, so to speak, ESPN has settled a sexual harassment suit with a woman who claims that one of ESPN's biggest stars, Chris Berman, harassed her.
The woman in question is makeup artist Sue Baumann, who has worked for the company for years, but was fired last summer.
After she was fired, she decided to hire Gloria Allred, the famous attorney who represents several women in sexual harassment cases in the past including the women involved in the Bill Cosby case.
According to Deadspin, Baumann alleges that Berman made comments to her via text messages and in the make-up room. Rather than going through a long case with this woman, ESPN settled out of court.
A spokesman for ESPN said this: "Our thorough investigation revealed the harassment claims had no merit. We settled it solely to save a considerable amount of time and litigation cost."
But that's not the most bizarre claims about this woman or this case. There are stories out that the claim she had was that she was having an affair with ESPN NFL analyst Cris Carter back in 2013.
According to this claim, the alleged affair was discovered by ESPN who hired two private eyes to find out what was going on. Apparently, the woman's husband was calling up to ESPN to harass Carter.
ESPN denies any involvement, but it is strange that they would settle out of court with a woman who they claim had no merit to her suit.
She may not have merit to the suit, but that may not be the main reason why they settled out of court.
