Ever since Thanksgiving Night 1987, the main focus of the Survivor Series has been about teams of four or five fighting for survival. That's what makes the news about The Undertaker's 25th anniversary storyline so disappointing.
Ever since Hulk Hogan's team of five battled a squad led by Andre the Giant in the main event of that inaugural event nearly three decades ago, the WWE's Thanksgiving Week tradition has been a highly-anticipated spectacle for the uniqueness of seeing random stars team up in matchups that are rarely seen on television.

It appeared as though The Undertaker and Kane were set to engage The Wyatt Family in a bout that would carry that rich tradition forward, but it was announced at this week's SmackDown tapings in the United Kingdom that it won't be the case at all.

Fantasy Booking Of WWE Championship Tournament
Multiple sources have reported that during the show, which airs Thursday, it was revealed that the Brothers of Destruction will team up to face two members of The Wyatt Family, rather than recruiting two partners to take on all four members of Bray Wyatt's brood. It's a huge disappointment.
The Undertaker made his debut at the 1990 event as a part of Ted Dibiase's fearsome foursome dubbed as "The Million Dollar Team." It would only be fitting for him to be a part of another dominant four-man unit at the 25th anniversary of his debut on Nov. 22 in Atlanta.
There is still a week's worth of buildup for the WWE to turn things around, but as it stands, "The Deadman's" silver anniversary will be rung in with a whimper, in the form of a boring standard tag team match.
The WWE may change things, but with much of the talent involved in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and no one else intervening during 'Taker's struggles with the Wyatts, they'd have to change direction pretty quickly for that to happen.
The Survivor Series has always been about tradition, but unless something changes, the 29th edition may very well fall flat.
