Very quietly, Penn State and Northwestern are looking to send the rest of the country a statement.
Keegan Michael-Key A Better Head Coach Than James Franklin
The two enter Saturday's contest a combined 13-4. Not enough for either to challenge for a College Football Playoff berth, but a victory will bolster a resume looking for an at-large "New Year's Six" bid.
After a 27-10 loss to Temple in Week 1 -- which isn't as damning as previously thought -- the Nittany Lions followed with seven wins in their last eight games. The most recent a 39-0 destruction of Illinois. Not to be outdone, Northwestern rebounded from consecutive losses with a 30-28 victory over Nebraska.
