The 29-year-old Lockette received a hard block from Cowboys safety Jeff Heath as the wide receiver was trying to cover a punt.

Lockette ended up suffering from multiple injuries that include a concussion, disk injury and ligament damage. He is not expected to be back this season, nor is there an official timetable on when he could return to the roster.

Lockette underwent surgery last Monday at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas where teammates Marshawn Lynch and Russell Okung stayed behind after the game.

For his part, Heath tried to touch base with Lockette after the incident last Tuesday but not to apologize.

According to The Dallas News: "I just told him I have a lot of respect for how he plays," Heath said of his text. "He's really tenacious and really aggressive and I really like how he plays. We all respect how he plays. Just wish him a speedy recovery and told him and I think he knows, but I just told him my intention wasn't to injure him and I hated the outcome of the play.

Heath stood pat that the hit was not intended to hurt Lockette and that it was all part of him playing hard. In the same report, he adds that the hit will not force him to change his style of play.
