For the second time in her six-year WNBA career, Los Angeles Sparks forward Candace Parker has been named league MVP, according to ESPN.
The website reports the 27-year-old veteran will officially be awarded the trophy on Thursday night, prior to the start of the Sparks Game 1 opening round playoff series against the Phoenix Mercury.
Parker averaged 17.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists in leading the Sparks (24-10) to the second seed in the Western Conference and edging out Minnesota's Maya Moore and Chicago's Elena Donne in the closest voting since 2005.
According to ESPN, Parker finished with 234 points, Moore had 218 and Donne 189. Both Parker and Moore finished with 10 first-place votes each from the 39-member national media panel.
Parker also won the award during her rookie season. Earlier this year, she was also named MVP of the league's All-Star game.
Parker, who is still looking for her first WNBA championship, is the fifth player to earn multiple MVP awards, joining Jackson, Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Cynthia Cooper.
In the closest vote in league history, Swoopes edged Lauren Jackson by two points in 2005.
