Louisville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware, who suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in the history of basketball during an Elite Eight matchup against Duke last spring, is now healthy enough to dunk a basketball, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Ware's rehabilitation has been impressive, as evidenced by a video of him executing a simple two-handed jam. The video clip was posted by teammate Chris Jones on his Instagram account.

While the dunk is very simple, it still gives a positive indication that Ware has made a lot of progress in rehabilitating his fractured leg. Ware has indicated that he wants to return to the court in time for the start of the 2013-14 season. His coach, Rick Pitino, was quoted as saying by USA Today that he expects to have the junior guard back on the court in the middle of October.

"We're going to take our time. I'm not saying we're going to redshirt him, but we'll take our time because it's a very serious injury," Pitino said.

Ware's injury was so gruesome that it became viral on the Internet. It happened on March 31, 2013 against the Duke Blue Devils when he landed awkwardly after trying to block a three point shot. The injury was so horrific that play stopped for 10 minutes, and players and coaches on both teams visibly shaken after seeing the injury. The Cardinals dedicated the game to Ware and went on to beat Duke. Louisville then beat the Michigan Wolverines, 82-76, to clinch its third basketball title.
