Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette is out for the year after undergoing surgery on his neck in Dallas on Monday.

The Seattle Times reports that Lockette's season is over after the procedure to repair ligament and disc injuries in his neck suffered Sunday. He lay motionless on the field after getting hit by the Cowboys' Jeff Heath just before halftime of the Seahawks 13-12 win.

The Seahawks said in a statement that Lockette "will be up and moving around as early as (Tuesday) and his neurological signs are all positive.''

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll didn't sound too optimistic with Lockette's future, saying he wasn't sure if the young receiver would ever be able to play football again.

Dr. Ty Thaiyanathan, neurosugeron and founder of Brain and Spine Institute of California, however, told the Times there's a slight chance Lockette could return if the injury did not pose a risk to the spinal cord.

"It could be nothing more than pain management," he said.

ESPN also reported that Several of Lockette's teammates, Marshawn Lynch and Russell Okung, stayed with him in Dallas as he went into surgery.

If the neck injuries weren't enough, Lockette also suffered a concussion as he lay motionless for almost 10 minutes before he was carted off by medical personnel. Carroll said Lockette and his family remained positive throughout the surgery.

"I did talk to his dad before surgery, and he's in good spirits and all of that and ready to help him get right and turn the corner on his recovery and get him going,'' Carroll said.

It's expected that Heath will be fined for the hit on Lockette at least $23,152, according to league rules. Heath received a personal foul penalty on the play for what the refs determined was a blindside block.

The Seahawks have a bye week before welcoming the Cardinals to town on Nov. 15.
