The Mets put on a pivotal performance Friday night, securing a 9-3 victory over the Royals in Game 3 of the World Series. The result allowed New York to avoid a 3-0 hole.
All Of A Sudden, Everyone's A Mets Fan
Left hander and local boy Steven Matz will take the mound in an all-important Game 4 at Citi Field. Manager Terry Collins made that abundantly clear on Friday when asked if Matt Harvey would be considered on short rest.
"We can't bring Matt back,"he said, per CBS Sports.
Baseball Purists Don't Want To See The Mets Win The World Series
The proclamation rang joyously in Matz’ ears. The 24-year-old lefty is anxious to commute ahead of the biggest night of his life.
“I will be staying home,” he said, per New York Daily News. “I did that pretty much ever since I came back from getting hurt. I just commute.
“We’re on off-hours, so there’s not much traffic. It’s not too terrible. It’s been pretty awesome to be able to do that.”
Not everyone is as excited with the proposition.
So game 4 WS, why isnt Harvey throwing tomorrow night. You got 3 days rest. He needs to throw that game. New school pitchers weak.

Matz is 0-1 with a 3.72 ERA in two postseason starts. He allowed three runs in five innings in his Game 4 start against the Dodgers.
Even worse, the Royals were 7-1 in their last eight games against a left-handed starter. A 4-3 victory over the Blue Jays in Game 6 of the ALCS pushed that record to 8-1.
Royals are 7-1 in their last eight games vs. a left-handed starter. David Price has a 2-7 record in the postseason with a 5.24 ERA.

Maybe penciling in Matz -- regardless of circumstance wasn’t -- the best strategy after all.
