Recently retired NBA star Tracy McGrady recently revealed that he wishes he had stayed in Toronto instead of joining another retired star, Grant Hill, in Orlando during the summer of 2000.

In a report filed by David Feschuk of the Toronto Star, McGrady admitted regretting the decision to sign a multimillion dollar deal with the Orlando Magic to join then-superstar Hill in hopes of creating a dynamic duo in the mold of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Hill was saddled with his ankle injury that led him to playing in only four games from 2000 to 2004. McGrady was left alone in making the Magic competitive and basketball fans were never able to see the duo reach their potential.

"In hindsight, looking back, obviously I wish I had stayed in Toronto," McGrady was quoted as saying. "There's no doubt we could have contended for a championship. I think about that often. But if 'if' was a fifth, you know?"

McGrady said that the Raptors back then had a good mix of young stars and veterans, with his cousin Vince Carter as the face of the franchise backed by veterans like Charles Oakley, Kevin Willis and Antonio Davis.

"Had I been a little older and wiser and knew what was ahead of me, I would have stayed, no doubt, with those guys," he added.

McGrady retired in late August from the NBA to end a career that was beset by injuries. The seven-time All-Star last played for the San Antonio Spurs and was seconds away from winning an NBA title until the Miami Heat stormed back and won Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals.
