The New York Knicks have a single spot available on its roster, and the team is busy looking at possible names to fill the said spot. One of the names that has come out is former Los Angeles Clipper Ricky Davis, who played in the NBA from 1998 to 2010.

Jared Zwerling of BleacherReport.com says that Davis, who will turn 34 this year, is one of the 10 free agents who will be in a mini-camp with the Knicks this week. The 10 players are competing for the remaining spot on the Knicks' overcrowded roster.

Davis was the prime offensive weapon of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003 when he averaged 20.3 points per game. Although he has respectable averages of 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists in his 12-year NBA career, he has also been criticized for shooting too much and being a defensive liability. He is also notorious for caring too much about his stats. In fact, he once deliberately missed a shot at his own team's basket in 2003 in order to snag a rebound and record his first career-triple double. The Cavs later fined him for his actions.

Interestingly, Davis has been knocking at the doors of several NBA teams in hopes of playing in the league again. Just last January, the veteran nearly landed a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves but lost out to little known-Mickael Gelabale.

Davis last played for the Clippers after stints with the Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Timberwolves and Miami Heat. When no team signed him up after the 2010 season, he played overseas in China, Turkey and France.
