Mets fans that are down in the dumps about the team's 2-0 World Series hole need to listen to the late, great WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.

"Hot Rod" cut a promo, presumably at Madison Square Garden, during the 1986 World Series, hyping the crowd up by making them believe the team could claw its way back from a 2-0 deficit against the Red Sox in the Fall Classic. New York ended up mounting a thrilling come-from-behind series win, ousting Boston in seven games for the franchise's second World Series title, and latest to date.

Now, with the Mets facing that same hole against the Royals with the series set to shift to Citi Field in New York, it's time once again to listen to Piper.

"How bout them Mets, huh?" Piper asked the crowd.

The audience, which believed "Hot Rod" was being a heel, began to boo.

"Wait a second!" he shouted. "Wait a second! Because they're down two games, this is your home team, have a little guts! Come on! Give them a shot!"

The audience then erupted, with the sudden babyface Piper yelling, "You damn right!"

If that doesn't psyche up a fan base, nothing will.

The 1986 Mets lost Games 1 and 2 at home by margins of one run and six runs, respectively, and ended up battling back. The 2015 Amazin's lost by those same margins in the Fall Classic, falling to the Royals 5-4 in Game 1 and 7-1 in Game 2, albeit on the road.

For Game 3, Citi Field will host its first World Series and it will mark the first time the MLB's championship series is hosted in Queens since Shea Stadium was still standing back in 2000.

Piper, whose real name is Roderick Toombs, passed away this past July 31 due to a heart attack at age 61. In zanier Mets kismet, that same day, Yoenis Cespedes was traded to the Mets in a move that kick-started the team's turn around and eventual run to the National League pennant.

If the Mets players and fans have any need for inspiration heading into Game 3, they should look to the inspirational words from one of the all-time greats in Piper, a WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend.
