The 49ers are an absolute mess this season, but the onus doesn't fall squarely on Colin Kaepernick's shoulders.

The quarterback has been horrendous throughout the campaign, leading to rumors that he's lost his confidence and that the team can't pull him out of his mental funk because he makes it hard to rally around him. Not even halfway through the season, Kaepernick has thrown five interceptions, half of the total he finished with in 2014.

Still, even though he's been struggling, San Francisco has plenty of other issues, and some players have even denied the reports that Kaepernick is on an island, avoiding advice from his teammates.

"It's easy to dig up stories and say things when your team is not playing well," Reggie Bush told the San Jose Mercury News. "The most important thing we can do is focus on us, block out everything outside and try to go out and win this next football game."

Though there has been a magnifying glass on the offensive side of things for San Francisco, things aren't much better on the other side of the ball. The 49ers defense has given up 21 touchdowns this season, tied for fourth most in the NFL. They've also allowed 406 yards per game, second highest in the league.

The 49ers also don't seem to have a good mix of players as there was an argument in a team meeting following the club's Oct. 4 loss to the Packers.

According to CSN Bay Area, tight end Vernon Davis called out Kaepernick, and right tackle Joe Staley jumped to the signal caller's defense, with the exchange getting heated and possibly even physical. The team was falling apart at the seams early on in the season and has played to a 2-5 record as a result.

San Francisco also has a new leader at the helm as Jim Tomsula has taken over for Jim Harbaugh, who departed for Michigan after last season, and the team was expected to have some growing pains under the new leadership.

Kaepernick has been awful this season, absolutely dreadful, but he's not the only one to blame for the 49ers insufficiencies.
