When Matt Harvey took the mound for World Series Game 1, not only was he battling the Royals, but he was apparently also dealing with a broken heart.

The Mets right-hander recently broke up with his girlfriend, Polish model Ania Cywinska amid partying a few weeks ago, according to the New York Post's Page Six. Per the publication, Harvey's agent said that the pitcher and Cywinska "mutually decided to split" ending their eight-month relationship.

Harvey, 26, and the model reportedly called it quits right around the time he infamously missed the Mets' postseason workout on Oct. 6. The pitcher was spotted out and about with friends at the Tribeca steakhouse American Cut the night before.

The 2013 All-Star's story changed when he was late for the club workout, with him first claiming that he overslept only to then say he lost track of time.

Where The Mets Partied After Clinching NL Pennant

In the Mets' first World Series game in 15 years on Tuesday, Harvey struggled. The ace allowed three runs on five hits in six innings and walked two as New York went on to lose, 5-4, in 14 innings. The Dark Knight also struck out just two batters, which likely speaks more to Kansas City's aggressiveness than it does his struggles that night.

Still, Harvey wasn't up to his usual standards, which begs the question of whether or not he had his personal life on his mind when he took the mound in the biggest game of his career. According to a source from Page Six, the couple broke up because "Matt's an intense guy" and they were "having issues."

If only some of that intensity was on display in Game 1. Jacob deGrom didn't fare much better in Game 2, and now the Amazin's face an 0-2 series hole with the Fall Classic set to shift to Citi Field for the first time ever.

There have been mixed reports about Harvey's nightlife during this playoff run, with some sources claiming he's been out at nightclubs in between games and others saying he's just focused on the World Series. Harvey attended a Rangers game on Oct. 22, but a source told Page Six he didn't drink that night.

His spokeswoman insists that her client isn't focused on anything but helping the Mets win.

"Matt's focus is on winning the World Series," she said.

The Mets have to win four of the next five games in order for that to happen.
