Perhaps it's Tebow Time in Texas.

Houston is an absolute mess this year, playing to a 2-5 record, which is good enough for second place in the dreadful AFC South, and a lot of their issues stem from the most important position in the sport: quarterback.

Tim Tebow's Suspected New Girlfriend More Than Just Eye Candy

The Texans have bounced back-and-forth between Ryan Mallett, who was cut Tuesday, and Brian Hoyer, but neither has played good enough to even be a backup on most teams.

Now, following Mallett's release, maybe it's time for Tebow to get the call.

Chiefs Fans Calling For Tim Tebow

Texans coach Bill O'Brien was so appalled at Mallet's on-field and off-field issues that he wanted to cut him prior to the Texans' meeting with the Dolphins on Sunday, according to the Houston Chronicle. General manager Rick Smith decided to veto the move, but just two days after the Texans' 44-26 drubbing at the hands of the Dolphins, Mallett is out.

O'Brien was fed up with the quarterback's inability to get the job done on the field. The problems were exacerbated when Mallett missed the team's charter to Miami on Saturday, which wasn't the first time he was late this season.

With the team in a terrible spot, it could turn to the almighty arm of Tebow. The former Heisman winner has paraded around the league, having stints with the Broncos, Jets, Patriots and Eagles, who released him on Sept. 5.

Since then, Tebow's been on the outside looking in on the NFL, but don't feel too bad for him, he's dating smoke show Olivia Culpo.

Now Tebow's NFL track record isn't stunning and any team thinking of picking him up would do so out of pure desperation, but that just shows how hard the Texans have hit rock bottom.

Maybe it's time for Tebow to help lift them up.
