Danny Amendola Hip Surgery, Torn Adductor Muscles? Return Timetable 'Fluid': Rob Gronkowski Return Week 3, 'Definitely' Back By Week 4 [VIDEO]

Tom Brady looked very frustrated with his rookie wide receiver targets in New England's 13-10 victory over the New York Jets on Thursday night, but he needs to figure out how to get them in tune with the offense. According to reports, Danny Amendola may miss significant time with his hip injury.

While nothing has been confirmed, some sources believe Amendola has torn adductor muscles, which would require surgery and a lengthy recovery. ESPN reports that adductor muscles are in the upper thigh area, and connect the pelvis to the thigh bone. Surgery to repair those tears could force Amendola to miss a month or more.

Other sources believe Amendola is suffering from a sports hernia. It that's the case, then a surgery to clear up that injury would likely keep him out for less than a full month. He was first injured in the preseason, missing the final two games before suiting up for Week 1 against Buffalo. He re-aggravated the injury against the Bills, but sucked it up to deliver his 10-catch, 104-yard performance that helped the Pats squeak out a win.

If he is to miss a month or more, then wide receivers Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins need to rapidly improve their mastery of the offense. Help could be on the way in the form of tight end Rob Gronkowski, who could return for Week 3 against Tampa Bay. If not, sources say Gronk will "definitely" be back by Week 4.

In the meantime, Brady's best bet will be to work closely with his young wideouts, and get them up to speed on where he expects them to be at all times. Brady's frustration with them was readily apparent on camera Thursday, and the future Hall of Famer apologized for his outbursts.

"I think I have to do a better job with my body language," Brady said. "I definitely can improve that. I wouldn't say it's a real strong point of mine right now. We'll just try to keep doing better. That's what we've got to do."
