KISS Gene Simmons Defends Tim Tebow, Attacks Michael Vick And Aaron Hernandez [VIDEO]

Famed KISS band leader and Arena Football League LA KISS co-owner Gene Simmons is saluting the virtues of Tim Tebow while blasting the likes of Michael Vick and Aaron Hernandez.

Days after his team expressed an interest in signing the recently waived, former NFL quarterback, Simmons told USA Today Sports "He's got a religious passion, as well he should, we're in America. He's proud to be a Christian, what's wrong with that? And yet, with sports media and pop culture media, they make fun of his religion. Really? In America?"

Simmons later added "I never saw the media picking on Michael Vick for torturing dogs. Or this football player, who alleged to have killed, committed murder. That's cool. But a guy who's religious and has got family values isn't cool? He's cool to me."

According to USA Today, Simmons, who is Jewish, added "religion is good for mankind. Beyond that, he told the newspaper he hopes Tebow takes the team's offer seriously and assures the quarterback he would give a level of respect he feels he was never afforded in the NFL.

"Paul Stanley, (KISS guitarist and team co-owner] is talking now with the outfit designers," he told USA Today. "But we may change the outfits every week. We want to make this really exciting, nothing boring. You're gonna see, in between the balls being tossed, and the touchdowns and all that, you're gonna have pure entertainment."
