Wes Welker is known for his toughness on the gridiron, but the Denver Broncos wide receiver apparently has a softer, prankster side to him. According to a report by NFL Total Access, Welker once dressed up as Britney Spears for a high school pep rally, and he was filmed while doing so.
When asked by NFL Total Access host Dan Hellie if the rumors of Welker dressing as Spears were true, the receiver knew he couldn't deny it as the film was out there somewhere, lurking.
"Gosh, I'd love to say false there, but I did," Welker said per UPI.com. "I'd love to say false, but they have me on video. I've already bought them off, so you won't be seeing that anytime soon."
Apparently, Welker should ask for his money back because KWTV has leaked the video of Welker in drag.

Welker dressed as Spears at a pep rally for Heritage Hall High School in Oklahoma City, Okla. where UPI.com reports he was a football star from 1996-2000, which coincides with the timeline of Spears rise to popularity. Welker laughed when NFL access asked him about the prank he did to rally his team, which won a championship in 1998 according to UPI.com.
The rumors of the event first circulated when a former teacher of his talked about his channeling of his inner pop star back when he was in high school.
"He was a superstar in the homecoming pep assembly lip sync contest in his senior year," said Welker's former teacher Betsy Horn, according to UPI.com. "He was a backup dancer. Probably the one that brought the house down with his portrayal of Britney Spears."
These days, Welker has traded in his dancing and lip synching for a successful NFL career. Welker has played in 126 games over his 10-year NFL tenure, and has 777 receptions for 8,647 yards and 40 touchdowns. Welker is a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time AFC champion.
There won't be any lip synching or dancing for Welker when the Broncos head to New Jersey to take on the New York Giants at MetLife stadium in a battle between the Manning brothers this Sunday, but perhaps if they need a halftime act Welker can dust off his old skills that he displayed in high school.
