Daniel Murphy is having one of the greatest postseasons of all-time, but outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is still the most important hitter in the Mets lineup. Cespedes left Wednesday night’s Game 4 victory over the Cubs very early in the game, and later it was revealed he had shoulder soreness.

Pictures of Cespedes golfing earlier in the day have surfaced, and many are wondering two things: first, is it really wise of him to be golfing during the playoffs, when he should be focused on the Cubs? Second, did he injure his shoulder on the golf course?

Trade Deadline Deals Now Essential To Succeeding In October

On the first count, Cespedes essentially told everybody to chill about the golf, because he does it regularly.

"It's been part of my routine. I've played all year long, and I played all last year. It actually helps me with my swing." As for whether the golf injured his shoulder?

"It didn't affect me at all," Cespedes said. The Mets’ slugger said he felt the pain after his first at-bat, but couldn’t say exactly when he got hurt.

"I don't really know. I just know that after the first at-bat, when I went back to the dugout, it just started bothering me. That's when I felt it."

There are positives. The Mets have until Tuesday, Oct. 27 to get Cespedes completely healthy, and he is very determined to play, even if it requires drastic measures.

"I'll be ready by Sunday. If not, I'll chop it off and put a new one on." The Mets sure hope so. He’s driven in seven runs this postseason, swatted two homers, and helped Murphy continue to see hittable pitches.
