After undergoing a successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Tuesday morning, Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans is expected to be out 6-8 weeks.

If he takes the full eight weeks to recover, he could be back by early December, according to New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry. Arthroscopic surgeries are minor but the recovery time depends on the individual.

With the new season coming up, the Pelicans are faced with the one less guard one week before the opening. Evans is the latest player to be on the sidelines with Jrue Holiday still on a 15-minute restriction until January to recover from recent stress injuries on his right leg and Norris Cole to be out for six weeks due to high ankle sprain.

"That's been the main thing that's been a little bit frustrating," Gentry told ESPN Wednesday. "I like our team. I think we have depth. We have not been able to put those guys out there together ... there's always somebody missing. We'll just have to battle until we get the cavalry group back."

It's going to be a while until the team can be complete.

Recalling Gentry's statement last month that he was expecting Evans to be the main point guard, it seems that New Orleans might need to find someone who can replace Evans in the backcourt if they want keep up with the other teams for the season.
