As fast as they are on the field, Seahawks running backs Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch seem to feel the need to go even faster off of it.

On Tuesday, 34-year-old Jackson did a number on his sports car after driving at high speeds on public streets outside the team's practice facility in Renton, Wash., roughly 11 miles southeast of Seattle. Jackson was reportedly in a 2016 black Corvette, TMZ reported.

Though witnesses told TMZ the incident appeared to be triggered as a result of drag racing with teammate Lynch, Jackson maintained this simply was not the case.

Police reports later confirmed there was no reason to suspect any illegal drag racing took place in the lead up to the crash. "There is no evidence he was drag racing anyone," Renton police spokesman David Leibman told the Seattle Times. "He was leaving the facility, and he was clearly driving too fast when he hit a street sign."

On Tuesday night, to counteract the circulating reports of drag racing, Renton police issued the following statement: "Early news releases indicated that Jackson was racing another team member and was removed from the scene by team security before officers could investigate. These reports are false. As of this time, there is no indication that Jackson was racing another vehicle."

Leibman further said police were called at 4:49 p.m. as Jackson waited for authorities to arrive on the scene. Neither Jackson nor anyone else involved in the incident sustained any injuries.

In 2006, Jackson joined the Bills, where played a total of nine seasons before being released in 2015 after finishing third on the Bills' all-time rushing list. On Sept. 7, 2015, Jackson signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks where he reunited with his one-time teammate Lynch.

The Seahawks are scheduled to play the 49ers on Thursday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif.
