Send anyone to the mound to face him, there is just no stopping Daniel Murphy right now.

To say the Mets second baseman is locked-in, as his teammate David Wright put it following the club's 4-1 victory over the Cubs Sunday night, would be a massive understatement. Murphy took Jake Arrieta deep in the first inning of that contest, as the Mets marched on to a 2-0 series lead over the Cubs.

Given his performance thus far this postseason, it's safe to say that Murphy is about to get paid handsomely following his playoff heroics, with him set to hit free agency this winter.

Murphy's long-ball was his fourth in as many games and his fifth of the postseason, both of which set a Mets franchise record. The second baseman is also only the eighth player in MLB history to hit four homers in a single postseason, with the last being Evan Longoria with the Rays in 2008, according to ESPN.

What makes the feat even more impressive isn't only how well Murphy is hitting the ball, but rather who he's doing it against.

The 30-year-old took Cy Young candidates Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke deep in the NLDS as the Mets ousted the Dodgers. Murphy touched up Kershaw for two homers, while his long ball against Greinke proved to be the difference-maker in the decisive Game 5 of the opening-round series.

With the stage getting brighter, Murphy's skills didn't waver. The 2014 All-Star and former 13th round draft pick hit a homer off two-time World Series champion Jon Lester in Game 1 of the NLCS before hitting his fifth round-tripper of the playoffs off of Cy Young candidate Arrieta to spark the Mets in Game 2.

Murphy reached a significant plateau in the feats, notching homers off the regular season leaders in wins (Arrieta, 22), ERA (Greinke, 1.66) and strikeouts (Kershaw, 301) in a single postseason.

It's safe to say Kyle Hendricks will be careful with Murphy when the series shifts to Chicago for Game 3 on Tuesday.
