Turns out, Tony Romo’s clavicle was holding the Cowboys together all along.

Since his injury, Dallas has dropped to familiar territory and will enter Week 7 at 2-3. Three consecutive loses -- combined with a poor showing against the Patriots -- forced Jason Garrett to bench Brandon Weeden in favor of Matt Cassel.

Matt Cassel's First Start In Jeopardy

The former Bills QB was acquired via a trade on Sept. 22, in exchange for a 2017 seventh-round pick.

With hopes of ending a three-game losing streak, owner Jerry Jones sees this as the Cowboys’ opportunity to return to the win column.

Running Back Switch Will Help Cowboys QB Situation

In theory, Jones’ vision makes sense. Especially with the return of Dez Bryant to practice.

There’s even talk of him featuring against the Giants on Oct. 25.

But in practice, Jones’ theory will fall short.

Cassell is not the kind of QB you want taking risks.

Since replacing an injured Tom Brady in 2008, Cassel is a pedestrian 23-33 as a starter, completing just 57.7 percent of his passes, per NFL.com. His 70 TDs to 54 INTs dropped his passer rating to 77.6.

This isn’t the man you want taking risks under center. This is the man you want handing the ball off and checking down.

Unless, of course, you want the Giants secondary to extend the losing streak to four games.
