You know that old man that lives on the first floor of your building, who always talks about how things were better when he was a kid? His name is “Baseball Purist,” and if he had his way, the Mets would’ve been eliminated Thursday night.

What Will The Mets' Pitching Rotation Be For The NLCS?

Long before New York was celebrating a 3-2 victory over the Dodgers, Curtis Granderson was leading off the top of the first inning. A dribbler to third base forced Justin Turner to charge and throw to first. Granderson was called out by umpire Chad Fairchild.

Except he wasn’t.

Mets WAGS Ready For NLCS

Sixty-three seconds later, the call was overturned and Granderson was awarded first base.

Two batters after that, Daniel Murphy was credited with an RBI triple to left-center.

Sixty-three seconds to get the call right. Sixty-three seconds to ensure the right team advanced to the NLCS.

Sixty-three seconds to shut people like Seth Swirsky up.

“What's this fixation we have with making sure every single call is right? What baseball teaches us is that, like in a real life, if something doesn't go our way, even if it's unfair, we have to make the best of it and move on,” he wrote in the Huffington Post in 2013.

Try telling that to Mets fans in 2015.
