Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka has maintained his innocence in the 1983 death of his then-girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, and he's hoping for a quick trial to prove he's not guilty.
Snuka, a WWE Hall of Famer who is in grave health following his surgery to treat cancer, was charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter on Sept. 1. The charge stemmed from the mysterious death of Argentino over three decades ago. A grand jury determined that Snuka reportedly assaulted Argentino and left her in a bed to die in a Pennsylvania motel room during his time working as a high-flying WWE Superstar.

The ex-grappler was a person of interest when the murder first occurred, but he was never charged with murder until a Morning Call investigation raised questions about Argentino's death and unearthed a previously unseen autopsy report that labeled her passing a homicide.
The former Superstar claimed his innocence in his 2012 book "Superfly: The Jimmy Snuka Story," and still claims he played no role in the death of Argentino. The defense is sticking to his story.

"The sooner this gets brought to a court, to a jury, the better," the former wrestler's attorney, Robert J. Kirwan II, said via MSN. "Mr. Snuka, if his health continues to deteriorate, he'd like to leave this world knowing he's an innocent man, not with everyone thinking he's guilty. So we're looking for a quick trial as well, for his sake and for his reputation."
Snuka appeared in a courthouse in Allentown, Pa. for a preliminary hearing, marking the first time he entered the building since being accused there a month ago, walking with a cane due to his declining health.
Snuka's arraignment is set for November, at which time he is expected to enter a plea of not guilty.
