Matthew Stafford's wife is throwing shade and spitting fire at the NFL's officials.

The "Monday Night Football" game between the Lions and Seahawks was mired in controversy after the referees blew a batted ball call, which should have given Detroit the ball back rather than seal the game for Seattle. Most people were up in arms about it, but Stafford's wife, Kelly, took it to a whole new level.

The signal caller's significant other shared a screen shot of a text exchange she had with her husband and she couldn't resist getting a shot in at the referees. Matthew wrote that he was about to get fined by the league for wearing cleats that went against the NFL's policies, and Kelly saw it as an opportune time to blast the refs.

"Tell the league that they can fine u for your cleats if we can fine them for their incompetent refs," Kelly wrote in the text, which she posted on Instagram.

Kelly removed the post from her page, but it can be viewed here via BSO.

The play unfolded when Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor punched the ball free on the one-yard line, which led to KJ Wright batting the football out of the end zone and over the line rather than allowing it to bounce by itself to lead to a touchback. That's a no-no in the NFL, but unfortunately for the Lions, the referees didn't seem to know it.

The league later acknowledged there should have been a penalty, which would have given the Lions the ball back on the 1-yard line with two minutes to go, but it was too little, too late as the Seahawks (2-2) tucked away a 13-10 victory over the winless Lions (0-4).

The refs didn't even know the rules? Maybe Kelly is right, they are incompetent.
