The WWE is building toward Hell in a Cell, but lurking in the background is the once proud Big Four event, the Survivor Series, and the WWE has a tremendous opportunity to make the Thanksgiving Week event a classic again.

The event started on Thanksgiving Night in 1987 and featured elimination tag team matches throughout the evening, sparking a tradition. The WWE will likely never go back to the gimmick of having every contest of the evening be a traditional tag bout, but there are other steps it can take to restoring the once proud franchise.

Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar Rematch Is A Must

Survivor Series has been a November staple for the WWE ever since that fateful night in Ohio, but over the years, the event has lost its luster. The last few Novembers, the company has treated the once fan-favorite spectacle as just another event on its jam-packed calendar.

Last year, the WWE took strides by booking a traditional match with The Authority's power hanging in the balance. The decision led to the debut of Sting, but even that storyline was thrown away when Triple H and Stephanie McMahon quickly returned to power.

10 Best Survivor Series Captains Ever

With WWE legends Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and The Undertaker reportedly interested in working more dates, the WWE could easily infuse them into the Survivor Series to make the event feel special again.

According to The Wrestling Observer, both legends are interested in working more dates with the WWE this year. The company is desperate for a ratings boost, and bringing in a pair of marquee names could do wonders for its goals. Per the report, the WWE's promotions department has been told the two sides are in negotiations to bring "The People's Champion" back before the end of this year.

As for The Undertaker, despite collapsing in his two contests with Brock Lesnar, he is open to working more dates, which includes the aftermath of his Hell in a Cell clash with "The Beast" later this month.

The Rock hasn't appeared at Survivor Series since teaming with John Cena in 2011, while The Undertaker, who made his WWE debut in 1990 at the event, hasn't competed at the November Classic since 2010.

If the WWE wants to make Survivor Series as great as it used to be, using The Rock and The Undertaker in traditional or high-profile matches should turn it back into being the November Classic.
