Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Munchie Legaux suffered a devastating injury in Saturday's game against Illinois, and was sent to the hospital overnight.
According to ESPN, Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville and athletic director Whit Babcock visited Legaux in the hospital in Champaign, Ill. Saturday night, and said the senior was in "good spirits" despite the gruesome injury.
Babcock tweeted the following about the visit:
Coach T & I just visited w Munchie @ Hospital. VERY tough young man. Lots of tests being run. He's in good hands w UC & UI docs. God Bless

ESPN reports that Legaux's family was en route to visit him in the Illinois hospital from Louisiana.
Legaux sustained the injury when he was hit by two Illinois players midway through the fourth quarter when he dropped back for a pass. Following the hit, he stayed down for several minutes and didn't get up. He eventually left the game, which Cincinnati dropped 45-17, on a cart. His teammates gathered around him before he was carried away.
Legaux was replaced at signal caller by fellow senior Brendon Kay, who went 6-for-11 for 71 yards.
Prior to the injury, Legaux passed for 237 yards and rushed for 52 yards. On the season, Legaux was 13-for-20 for 145 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He's also rushed for 55 yards on six attempts with no touchdowns.
The team is hopeful that Legaux can make a speedy recovery, but judging by the injury he may not make it back this season. The Bearcats tied for first in the Big East last year, posting a 10-3 record and going on to defeat Duke in the 2012 Belk Bowl by a score of 48-34.
