The Browns are 1-3 after a 30-27 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. Josh McCown finished 32-of-41 for 356 yards and two TDs.

Despite the record, head coach Mike Pettine believes his QB was solid enough to warrant more playing time.

TMZ Fabricates Story About Broken Browns Locker Room

"He did [play well],” Pettine said, per Cleveland.com. “I thought he hung in there. There were a couple of times early that he took some throws down the field that he didn't need to. He wanted to be aggressive. He saw the field well and moved around the pocket.

“He took some hits. I thought it was a solid performance by him."

Pettine Still Provides Bad News For Manziel In Cleveland

That’s two consecutive defeats and two consecutive votes of confidence from Pettine, opening the door for Johnny Manziel to be traded before the deadline on Oct. 28.

Several teams in the NFL are still in search of franchise QB, including the Browns. Manziel not being a part of the plans in Cleveland doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be involved in the future of opposing NFL teams.

Pettine can be proud all he wants, but his backup QB warrants another opportunity. If he can’t provide it, someone else in the NFL should.
