Marshawn Lynch has earned the nickname “Beast Mode” because defenders are typically unable to take him down. Apparently, Lynch’s hamstring is stronger than most NFL tacklers, because he’s in real danger of missing the Seahawks’ Week 4 matchup against the Lions.
Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is dealing with a hamstring injury that, according to source, makes him “50-50” to play Monday against Detroit.

Lynch owners have to deal with the possibility that he could miss the game, and have to weigh their options with his backups; they are Thomas Rawls and Fred Jackson. Rawls is the hot name in the fantasy community, so he’s up first.

Seattle turned heads when they traded away Christine Michael, once a second round pick, for peanuts. That is probably because of this guy, Rawls, who picked up 104 yards on 16 carries last week in relief of Lynch. He doesn’t have much of a track record, but what we have seen of him is promising. Last week vs. Chicago is the extent of his NFL resume, but he had one season of steady work in college and killed it.
Rawls spent three seasons toiling on the Michigan Wolverines bench before heading to Central Michigan for his final year. He carried the ball 210 times for 1,103 yards and 10 touchdowns. At 5’10, 217 pounds, he can replicate Lynch’s physicality to a degree, and he simply has fresher legs than Jackson, the oldest active RB in football.

Jackson, on the other hand, has the experience edge. Last week he only saw two carries once Lynch went out, but with a full week of preparation the Seahawks would certainly use him more. Jackson caught both of his targets in the passing game, so in the event Lynch misses time, Jackson’s likeliest usage would be in a third down/passing down capacity. If you’re a Lynch owner, and both are available on the waiver wire, take the shot at Rawls. If Rawls has been snapped up, Jackson should see increased work, but he will have a very low floor.
