Whether or not it’s true that several Browns players spoke to TMZ about wanting Johnny Manziel to start ahead of Josh McCown, Cleveland may be planning to deploy both quarterbacks in the same game. Offensive coordinator John DeFelippo said that the team always has a package of plays designed for Manziel ready to go.

"To say we don't have plays ready for Johnny Manziel against the San Diego Chargers, I'd be lying to you. OK? I'd be lying to you. So you never know. We may use them and we may not,” DeFelippo said, his statements ringing similarly to how the Jets once planned to use Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez.

"That's the competitive advantage of showing up and playing an opponent on Sunday. They don't know what we're going to do and we don't know what they're going to do.''

DeFelippo also addressed the anonymous players that TMZ quoted in their article about dissention on the decision to go with McCown. DeFelippo left no doubt as to which QB was their guy, even if the Browns’ only win in three games came with Manziel starting.

3 Reasons Johnny Manziel Is The Right Answer At QB For Cleveland

"Josh is our guy,'' DeFilippo said. "There's no doubt in my mind'' he's the right guy for the job. I don't deal well with anonymous sources. To me, that’s cowardly.”

Manziel has had some big moments already this season, mostly involving bombs to Travis Benjamin, but he has also fumbled four times and thrown an interception. McCown is 0-2 as the starter (he was knocked out of the game in the first quarter in Week 1), but on Sunday he did accumulate 349 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to the Raiders. Manziel has failed to top 182 yards.
