Justin Bieber has become a frequent presence at Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s fights, and the pop star blasted Mayweather’s haters in an interview with Complex.

Mayweather’s most recent fight, a Sept. 12 dud vs. Andre Berto that Mayweather claims was his last bout, and he took a lot of criticism for the easy matchup. Mayweather is used to criticism, however, because of his outwardly lavish lifestyle and cocky persona. Bieber, who isn’t popular with everyone either, said many of Mayweather’s haters are “stupid” for not realizing why he acts that way.

Andre Berto Says Chris Brown Would KO Bieber

“With Floyd, he’s just an image. I think he may not do the best job at being humble, but that’s not his job,” Bieber said via Boxing Scene. “He’s trying to get pay-per-view numbers. He’s saying wild stuff just for attention. When people can stop being stupid – sorry to say that – but when people can stop reading into it so much and just look at the fact he’s doing it for entertainment.”

Since Mayweather says “wild stuff” to get attention, might that mean “Money” said he’s retiring just so he can gin up interest for a “comeback” fight that would give him an opportunity to go 50-0, and surpass the record former heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano retired with?

Bieber also had some advice to give to Mayweather, his elder, from his own experiences in the music industry.

“You go through a point where—I don’t know if he’s gotten this or not—but for me I went through a point of doing it for myself and doing everything in the industry for myself and I was unhappy because being able to do stuff for others is the biggest gift of all.”

Awwwww.
