Illinois football are still in search of long-term head coach. The one place they shouldn't be looking is Alabama. And even if they did, the one person they shouldn't be looking at is Lane Kiffin.

The man currently assisting Nick Saban with the offensive duties in Tuscaloosa is the last person you want as the face of your program. Especially if you're fresh off a scandal of your own.

Saban Says Kiffin Is Great At 'What We Want Him To Do'

Just five weeks ago, Tim Beckman was relieved of his duties amid allegations of influencing medical decisions and pressuring players to play hurt, per ESPN. Illinois saved $3.1 million -- the amount remaining on his five-year contract -- as a result.

There's no need to waste that money on Kiffin.

He was seen as the savior in Oakland, only to send Sebastian Janikowski out for a 76-yard FG. Unsurprisingly, Kiffin was fired with a 5-15 record.

He was seen as the savior in Tennessee, only to sneak his way to USC after one 7-6 season. There was some semblance of success with the Trojans -- finishing 10-2 in his first season -- but as he always does, Kiffin crashed and burned out of the program.

The Trojans lost 7 of their last 11 games under his guidance.

Not even Alabama could serve as a sanctuary. It took less than two full seasons for Kiffin's first scandal to emerge as the offensive coordinator.

Allegedly.

In considering Kiffin, the Fighting Illini would put the integrity of their program on the line. It's a gamble worth taking on some coaches with a checkered past. Kiffin isn't one of them.
