You would think scoring 501 career goals would be narrative enough to keep the Spanish press of your back. You would think, but you would be wrong.

Fresh of a 2-0 victory over Malmo in the Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo was questioned about his future with Real Madrid. Speculation placed him in Paris and Manchester, but Ronaldo was clear -- at least in the short-term -- where his future minutes will be.

500 Goals Later, Messi Fans Still Can't Respect Cristiano

“My future is at Madrid. I am good here,” he said, per ESPN FC. "I want to win things here and I feel good, but I have said millions of times that nobody can tell what will happen in the future. We will see what happens.

"Nobody knows what will happen next year. I want to win things at Madrid as I think that this club has the potential to win things, but I do not know the future."

Messi's Injury Opens Door For CR7 To Win Ballon d'Or

Flavio Augusto Da Silva hopes that future resides with him.

The Orlando City owner is desperate to make a play for one of the game’s brightest stars as early as next season.

"Truthfully, we like Cristiano Ronaldo a lot. We'd sign him without thinking about it," da Silva told Marca, per MLSsoccer.com. "Physically, he's more complete than [Leo] Messi, and he'd make more of an impact on a marketing level in MLS than the Argentine.

“Hopefully, we can sign him for this upcoming season. We've always heard that he'd like to come to the United States to play."

Just not this soon.

At 31, Ronaldo would still have plenty to offer both Madrid and his legacy. Abandoning Europe amid Messi’s prime would end any debate surrounding the two, something Ronaldo's ego can ill-afford.
