As it turns out, the whole football thing hasn't quite panned out for Michael Sam.

Michael Sam Shows He's Not Serious About NFL Return

The defensive end may still have dreams of getting back to the NFL, and they may very well come true, but for now he's not suiting up on NFL Sundays. Sam fired his agent and publicist to get his career back on track earlier this month, but let's face it, for now he's done in the NFL.

Fortunately for Sam, he lives in a world with plenty of options for former athletes and there are a lot of things he can do to get his career back on track.

Here are three options for Sam:

1) Become An Actor

Sam already has an in to the business as he's been buddying it up with the cast of "Empire" Sam posted pictures on Instagram of him hanging out with stars Terrence Howard Jussie Smollett, and TMZ reports that he's been very close with Smollett lately. Maybe he can utilize his new friend as a way to break into the Hollywood scene.

2) Motivational Speaker

As an openly gay athlete, Sam is a trailblazer and he's never been shy about sharing his story. The defensive end was very open about his sexuality with his Missouri teammates and was eventually the only openly gay player to ever get drafted by an NFL team. Sam has a tremendous story to tell and he could put his open personality to great use by motivating others to follow in his footsteps and not be ashamed of who they are.

3) Kiss Cam Guy

Hey, Sam knows a thing or two about smooching on camera. After he was drafted by the Rams in the seventh round in 2013, he shared a kiss with his boyfriend that was caught by cameras. He may never get close to the gridiron again, but if he wants to show up on NFL Sundays and scan the crowd for a kiss as monumental as the one he provided on Draft Night, the job could be his.
