While it remains to be seen if U.S. Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps will return to the pool for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the 22-time medalist (18 gold) dove back into the pool for a recent commercial for Radio Shack/Motorola/Sol Republic.

A video of the commercial can be seen below:

In the ad, Phelps sits on a pool deck before being transformed into a long-haired rapper wearing jewelry before he transforms other people into medalists and a torch appears.

Phelps isn't the only celebrity to make an appearance in the ad, as Steve Aoki, Alexis & Fido and Lil' John all appear in the commercial.

Phelps recently made waves in the swimming world by tweeting a cryptic message that led to a lot of people speculating that the swimmer may be up to some sort of training for a return to the pool at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Following the tweet, many people continued to believe that the 28 year old may make a return to the Olympics despite retiring after the 2012 Games. While the speculation has been mounting for months and will probably continue until the year 2016, Phelps was adamant following the 2012 Summer Games in London that he was done, though lately he seemed unsure of what his future will hold.

"I don't know what's going to happen in the future," Phelps told The Associated Press earlier this summer. "I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow."

Phelps then added in the July interview that "there was nothing in the works," for a return to swimming.

Whether or not the young retired swimmer returns to the pool in 2016 may not be known for a while, but for now he's enjoying his retirement by filming commercials in 2013 and he'll even appear on the USA Television show Suits in 2014.
