Johnny Manziel has won back the locker room, per TMZ. Several Browns players speaking on the condition of anonymity took to the media to stump for Johnny Football to be the starter in Cleveland after a Week 3 loss at home to the Raiders.

"I love both Johnny and Josh but its f**ked up when you have Johnny come in and play well and has proven to the team that he is the right person for the job," one player said. “It’s frustrating to him and us when you sit a player down when he is playing well. Coach has got to understand you are messing up the chemistry and timing with players and its f**ked up."

The Browns are 1-2 this season, and their lone win came with Manziel under center. He threw two long touchdown passes to breakout wide receiver Travis Benjamin, who was developing a clear rapport with the second-year passer. Benjamin scored in Week 3 as well with McCown, but did not pile up yardage like he did in Weeks 1 and 2. It wouldn’t be shocking if the next quote, from a different player, came from him.

"The team plays better when [Manziel] is in the game. I play better when he plays. You can’t get better unless you play. We won when he played and coach has got to trust him like he trusts Josh."

Why Going With McCown Is a Big Mistake

McCown was an absolute disaster in Tampa Bay last season, going 1-10 with 11 touchdowns and 14 picks. This year he has thrown two touchdowns and one interception, but Cleveland is 0-2 in his starts. Manziel is 21-for-39 in 2015, with three touchdowns and one interception. Manziel has also fumbled four times already.

Statistically, there isn’t much difference between the two. The organization is better off finding out how much Manziel can improve, however, and figuring out if he is their future solution at quarterback. McCown is nothing more than a stopgap option, and for a team with already-dim postseason hopes, he isn’t ideal.
