FIFA didn’t back down. The most corrupt organization on the planet decided the most corruptly awarded World Cup will be played from Nov. 21 - Dec. 18 in 2022.

The calendar approved on Friday means clubs must release players for the tournament by No. 14, 2022 -- one week before the opening match. Not only will players be plucked from their clubs three months into the campaign, but they’ll have one week to prepare for the biggest tournament in the world.

Making matters worse is FIFA’s decision to compact the schedule.

Fewer overall days for the tournament means fewer days to rest in between matches, which will undoubtedly lead to avoidable injuries.

Hoping to see Neymar in the World Cup final? You’re more likely to see him on the sideline nursing a hamstring injury because he was forced to play every three days to satisfy Qatar’s corrupt bid.

One benefit of hosting a World Cup final on Dec. 18, 2022: it’s a Sunday, an NFL Sunday. With Qatar seven hours ahead of the East Coast, a 1 p.m. ET kickoff is extremely likely.

It’s at that moment the NFL will realize it’s not as important as it thinks it is.
