Hold off on writing his NFL epitaph, Peyton Manning has plenty left in the tank.

Amid rumors -- and pleas from some fans -- that Manning would retire, he put on a great performance against the Chiefs on "Thursday Night Football," throwing three touchdown passes and becoming just the second player in NFL history to reach the 70,000 career passing yards plateau.

The meeting with the Chiefs didn't come without its bumps as Manning's pass for Demaryius Thomas in the second quarter was picked off by Marcus Peters and returned for a 55-yard touchdown. The score gave Kansas City a 14-0 lead late in the frame.

While most people were demanding Manning call it a career following the pick-six, the veteran showed his poise and confidence in battling back. Manning found Emmanuel Sanders on a 16-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit to 14-7 and would add touchdown passes to Virgil Green (1 yard) in the second quarter and Sanders again (19 yards) late in the fourth quarter.

Denver would go on to win the game 31-24 after Bradley Roby returned a fumble with 27 seconds left in the contest.

There has been a lot of speculation over Manning's future, but he has remained tight-lipped about the status of his career beyond this season. On Thursday night, Manning showed he still had a lot left, going 26-for-45 for 256 yards with the three touchdowns and the interception.

Manning, 39, also notched a personal achievement as he has eclipsed 70,000 yards, joining Brett Favre (71,838) as the only two players to reach that milestone. The 14-time Pro Bowler has 70,122 yards for his career. He should have a lot of yards left in that aging arm.

After Thursday night, don't start reserving the retirement homes for Manning just yet.
