The first week of Champions League action has been completed, seeing La Liga dominate Europe once more. Spanish clubs were a combined 3-1-1 and outscored the opposition 12-4 in Matchday 1. The Premier League, by comparison, finished 1-0-3.

Chelsea -- 4-0 over Maccabi Tel-Aviv -- were the only victors.

Below are highlights of the week’s top action.

Best Goal

Was it a cross? Was it a shot?

Who cares? Thomas Muller broke the scoreless draw in Bayern Munich’s 3-0 victory over Olympiakos. The 26-year-old was audacious enough to lob the keeper from distance and an acute angle.

Best Performance

Just when you’re prepared to hand Lionel Messi the Ballon d’Or, Cristiano Ronaldo reminds you of his greatness. The 30-year-old scored a hat-trick in Real Madrid’s 4-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk. His 83 goals in club international cups are the most all time, per Tancredi Palmeri.

Best Save

Real Madrid have played in four competitive matches since the start of the 2015-16 campaign. They are yet to concede a goal. Moments like this one from Keylor Navas is the reason why.

Best Match

It’s the match you wouldn’t have considered watching entering Wednesday, but Valencia-Zenit St. Petersburg silenced the critics. The two combined for an enthralling 3-2 affair. Zenit got the better of the hosts thanks to a brace from Hulk.
