Floyd Mayweather Jr. improved to 49-0 Saturday night when he cruised to an easy victory over Andre Berto in a matchup where Berto may not have won a round. After the fight Mayweather reiterated that he would not fight again, and his career was over.

Still, suspicion that Mayweather will fight again remains high.

Golovkin Trainer Says GGG Would KO Floyd If He Got A Chance

The MGM Grand, Mayweather’s venue of choice since his 2007 super fight vs. Oscar De La Hoya, will be opening a new arena in 2016 and few can’t see the perfection in Mayweather opening it up by going for a 50-0 record to pass Rocky Marciano’s mark. The question is, who is left for Mayweather to fight?

Most think that a rematch against Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KO) makes the most sense, and can be sold because Pacquiao was hurt in their May 2 “Fight of the Century.” Pacquiao has seized on a recent flap regarding Mayweather receiving an illegal IV injection before the May 2 bout, while Pacquiao was denied a shot to alleviate pain in his injured shoulder.

“That is why I want a rematch. One without any injury but with fair play. No favouritism. Not one in which Mayweather dictates all the terms and conditions,” Pacquiao said per Daily Mail.

There may also be calls for Mayweather to face middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin at 154 pounds, where Mayweather currently holds the WBC title. Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO) has knocked out 20 straight opponents, and is scheduled to fight in a unification bout against IBF titleholder David Lemieux on Oct. 17. Golovkin has stated he would drop down a full weight class to pursue his “dream fight” with Mayweather.
