The Tim Tebow fans rejoiced last week when the Eagles traded Matt Barkley to the Cardinals, because it appeared Tebow, on the strength of a two-touchdown performance vs. the Jets in the final preseason game, had earned a spot as the no. 3 quarterback. Alas, it was not to be. The Eagles proceeded to cut Tebow, much to the chagrin of a Philadelphia legend.

"He's an underdog, like Rocky," Sylvester Stallone said. "I think he's a late bloomer. Everyone blew it." Chip Kelly is probably kicking himself now; Stallone may not have coached in the NFL before, but when Rocky/Rambo speaks everyone listens.

Mike Ditka Says Tebow Is Good For America

Tebow finished the preseason with two passing touchdowns, a rushing touchdown, and one interception, but it wasn't enough to secure a roster spot. He threw for 286 yards, and completed 58.6 percent of his passes, more than 10 percentage points higher than his career completion rate of 47.9. Tebow was in the Patriots' camp two seasons ago, and was let go right before the season began then too. He has not thrown an NFL regular season pass since 2012.

In 2013 Tebow served as a college football analyst for the ESPN's SEC Nation while he was out of the NFL, and is resuming that role this season.

"Tim quickly developed into an excellent analyst last year, and we were not shy about acknowledging his home at ESPN should he be available to return," ESPN Executive Vice President John Wildhack said. Stallone had another idea for Tebow, who might not have an accurate arm, but does possess movie star looks.

"Come to Hollywood."
