Football returns with Week 1 action Thursday night, but many people are looking forward to the first edition of "Sunday Night Football" this season -- which includes the new introduction by country singer Carrie Underwood.

In anticipation of the debut of the intro, which will segway into the rivalry game between the Giants and Cowboys on Sunday, a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the vignette and the athletes involved was released.

Stars such as Steelers receiver Antonio Brown, Giants wide out Odell Beckham Jr., Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, Colts signal caller Andrew Luck, Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, Eagles running back DeMarco Murray, Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor and Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant appear in the footage, which was provided by Newsday.

Underwood was excited to once again be the voice of the show's intro song, "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night," which is a revised version of the Joan Jett diddy, "I Hate Myself for Loving You."

"It's always fun getting to be a part of 'Sunday Night Football' and recording the open," Underwood says in the clip. "This year I feel a lot more comfortable. I've met some of the players before, so we kind of have a little rapport going."

Luck said he's a "big fan" of Underwood (who isn't?), while Beckham appreciated the "time and quality" that went into the project and added it was "great to see" the final stages of it.

Brown was also pumped to be a part of the action.

"It's pretty awesome, man," he said. "You gotta love it. 'Sunday Night Football,' Carrie Underwood. It's really nice, man. I'm glad to be here."

Matthews said it was "truly an honor" to be invited to come back on four separate occasions. Murray admitted it was a little weird for him at first, but he enjoyed working on it.

"I have to come out of my comfort zone a little bit," the running back said, "but it was awesome to see the huge green screen and what not and then see the huge special effects later in the process, so it was fun."

It can be seen for the first time this Sunday.
