Floyd Mayweather Jr. insists that his Sept. 12 fight vs. Andre Berto will be the final bout of his career, but that hasn't killed suspicion he is building toward a rematch with Manny Pacquiao in 2016. Perhaps Top Rank CEO Bob Arum's latest comments regarding Pacquiao will stop the rumor mill.

"From what I've heard, Mayweather is retiring. I guess they could fight again, but many things would have to happen," Arum said via Boxing Scene.

5 Opponents We'd Love To See Pacquiao Fight Before He Retires

According to Arum, Pacquiao is likely going to fight only one more time before turning his attention full-time to running for the Senate in his native Philippines. Pacquiao is recovering from labrum surgery he underwent days after fighting Mayweather, and isn't expected to be back until next year.

"I believe he'll take one more fight, then run for Senate in the Philippines. He could fight twice more I guess, but it sets up better for him to fight, then run."

Mayweather Says Pacquiao Was A Media Creation, "Never On My Level"

Another reason to forget about a rematch would be the inflammatory rhetoric coming from Floyd Mayweather Sr., who says there's no reason to think about Mayweather-Pacquiao II.

"There's nothing to even talk about with that fight. Floyd beat Pacquiao and it used to be that people would be talking about that and ain't nobody thinking about that fight. That's nothing. Floyd beat another opponent that's what he did," Mayweather Sr. said.

He also couldn't resists some potshots at Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's longtime trainer.

"Pacquiao is blowing smoke, that's what he's doing. And Freddie Roach is saying 'It's gonna be better this time than it was last time.' Freddie Roach is a joke, blowing smoke with no hope. That's the one right there. Pacquiao is the last thing in the world Floyd should be thinking about."
