The Messi-Ronaldo debate delved further into insanity on Thursday. A new initiative from Hubbub, attempting to crack down on cigarette butt litter in London, is asking smokers to determine who is the best player in the world by dispensing their cigarette butts into the appropriate bin.

Based on the above image, Ronaldo is running away with the vote.

Fortunately for Messi, smokers won't determine the FIFA Ballon d'Or.

The Argentine is the runaway favorite following a campaign that saw him finish with 43 league goals, the Copa del Rey, La Liga crown and Champions League title.

It's good to be the king, just don't tell Javier Mascherano. Messi's teammate for both club and country doesn't envy the standards being set for this generation's greatest talent.

"I couldn't stand being Messi," declared Mascherano, per Mirror. "You have to be special to be in his place. It's always easy to talk about others before talking about yourself.

"What you have to take into account is that Leo keeps coming, he doesn't hide."

Messi doesn't hide, but his goalscoring form cannot be found. Much like Ronaldo, the 27-year-old is yet to open his account this season. Away on international duty, Messi will look to return to form against Bolivia on Friday.
