Everything may be bigger in Texas, but their laws about guns certainly aren't.

Dwight Howard had a loaded gun in one of his bags and brought it to the airport, where it was caught by a security scanner, TMZ reports.

The Rockets star was stopped at George Bush Airport in Houston on Aug. 28 after a TSA agent noticed a Glock 26 9mm in his carry-on bag. Making matters worse, the gun was loaded with a bullet in one of the chambers. Howard reportedly forgot that the Glock was in the bag.

Howard wasn't arrested for the crime and that is likely because it took place in Texas, where they are much looser about gun laws. In most other states, Howard would have been punished for bringing a loaded gun to an airport, but Texas happens to be pretty lax when it comes to regulations regarding firearms.

After the incident, Howard was able to board the plane as if the ridiculous issue never occurred once he passed through security. As for the gun, it wasn't confiscated as Howard was able to pass it off onto one of his comrades before going on his merry way.

According to TMZ, the Houston Police Department said the District Attorney was aware of the infraction, but opted not to take legal action against the 6-foot-11, 275 pound center.

The Rockets and Howard could use all the firepower they can get on the court to improve upon the great strides they took last season. Houston finished in first place with a 56-26 record and had a deep run into the playoffs before falling in five games to the eventual NBA champion Warriors in the Western Conference finals.

As it turns out, even "Superman" needs a gun.
