Adrien “The Problem” Broner, a normally loquacious sort, apparently has hurt feelings from the lashing he took in the media following his June loss to Shawn Porter. Broner has vowed not to speak to the media, and lived up to that promise in his most recent press conference—almost.
Broner, who is fighting Khabib Allakhverdiev (19-1, 9 KO), in October, only said one word at the first presser to promote the bout. “N—ga.” The stunt was typical of Broner, who even in saying very little managed to stir the pot.

Brendan Fogel, nicknamed “White Ticket,” spoke on Broner’s behalf at the media event and promised a more mature man leading up to this bout.
“Adrien is 26 years old now. He isn’t the same guy he used to be. I mean he’s still the same A.B. About Billions; Always Ballin’; Athletic Bastard. In the second part of his career, A.B. is going to stand for About Boxing, and more importantly About Business so he can accommodate the billions,” Fogel said.
The maturity didn’t exactly shine through when Broner finally uttered the one word he said all day. Referencing a back-and-forth exchange on Twitter with ESPN scribe Dan Rafael, Fogel discussed Broner’s feeling that he was under attack and needed to disengage from the media for this event.
“Right now, Adrien feels as if his back is up against the wall. No disrespect to anyone in this room, we all know when a…” At this point Fogel asked Broner to step in. “Adrien I know you said you weren’t going to talk at this press conference but I need help with this one word.”
“N—ga,” Broner said.
“When he feels like his back is against that wall,” Fogel continued, “we all know some s—t is about to go down.”
