Call it the perks of the job, for both Caroline Wozniacki and Derek Jeter.

The retired Yankees captain had a seat in Wozniacki's box for her U.S. Open first-round match against Jamie Loeb, USA Today Sports' For the Win reported Tuesday.

Caroline Wozniacki Asks Not To Talk About J.J. Watt

The connection may have been Wozniacki's essay in Jeter's website, The Players Tribune, which was published Monday, one day before her first-round match. For the Win surmised Wozniacki may have invited Jeter for allowing her to write for his website. He may have accepted as a thank you for her contribution.

"Jeter couldn't even fake his interest as Wozniacki demolished Loeb (6-2, 6-0), the reigning NCAA champion, and was seen heading back into an air-conditioned box for the second set of the match" For the Win reported. "Jeter was then awarded a gold glove for some reason."

Caroline Wozniacki Tired Of Media Still Asking About Ex-Fiancé Rory McIlroy

A New York Daily News reporter spotted Jeter watching the match and reported the Jeter sighting, with a security guard close by. The Major League Baseball future Hall of Famer then moved to a luxury suite prior to the match of fellow Nike spokesman Roger Federer, who also had an easy first-round match with a 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 dismantling of Leonardo Mayer.

"Sorry buddy," Jeter said when approached by the New York Daily News reporter. "I gotta go (to the suite)."

Jeter's reported lack of interest in Wozniacki's match, not to mention published reports of him dating model Hannah Davis, eschews any romantic link between the former baseball player and the Danish tennis star.

Wozniacki already has been linked to her share of athletes. She was engaged to No. 1 golfer Rory McIlroy last year before he broke off the engagement in May. This spring and summer, Wozniacki was spotted publicly with Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, but that relationship also ended.

Wozniacki recently told the New York Post she didn't want to talk about Watt.
