How's that for dedication? A Cuban baseball player hoping to latch onto the Dodgers has slept outside of Dodger Stadium for 18 days in hopes of catching his big break.

Loah Linares is determined to stay outside of Dodger Stadium for as long as it takes so that he can follow Yasiel Puig and other Cuban ballplayers by forging his name in Major League Baseball, according to ABC News.

The Cuban infielder has no shortage of confidence in himself as he camps outside of the Dodgers home field after unsuccessfully trying to get inside the facility.

"If I didn't know how great a baseball player I know I am, I wouldn't be here trying to show off my skills to somebody," Linares told ABC.

An infielder by trade, Linares doesn't care where Los Angeles puts him on the diamond, he just wants a fair shake.

"Shortstop, second base, third base... Once again, I just want the opportunity to show them, not tell them," Linares said.

The Jackie Robinson-influenced ballplayer has been working out as much as he can on the streets, hoping that the Dodgers higher-ups take notice. With a payroll of $307,421,594 (according to SB Nation.), what do the deep-pocketed Dodgers have to lose by taking a risk on a ballplayer who would likely play for the cheap?

Well, the answer is a lot, actually, as Los Angeles doesn't want to set a precedent by plunking random people off of the street.

Still, Linares is hopeful Puig and other ballplayers take notice of him

"I'm outside the L.A. Dodgers Stadium. Stop by, pick me up. Let's play catch. Let's get back in the field," he said.

The Dodgers could use all the help they can get as they continue their pennant race toward the NL West crown. Los Angeles has a 4.5-game lead over the defending World Series champion Giants, following a 5-4 walk-off win in the 14th inning Monday at Dodger Stadium. The clubs play two more games in the series on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Unfortunately for Linares, the rosters expanded Tuesday and he didn't get the call.
