Reporters can say what they want about Jay Gruden's coaching and the Redskins struggles, but he draws the line at shaming him for his weight.

There's still over two weeks until Washington hosts Miami for its season-opener on Sept. 13, but the Redskins have already had their fair share of issues this preseason.

Despite being 2-0 in its exhibition schedule, the team has dealt with a problematic offensive line and an injury mystery to Robert Griffin III where it was unknown whether or not he sustained a concussion last week against the Lions.

The team has become the butt of many jokes just two weeks into the preseason, but all Gruden asks is that people refrain from calling him fat.

"I really dislike the guy that called me a fat ass," Gruden said while adding a chuckle, referring to CBS Sports radio host Scott Ferrall, according to the Washington Post. "That really ticked me off. I don't mind you critiquing my coaching style, but to make fun of my weight, that's unfair. I'm only 225 [pounds]. But other than that, man, it's football."

Though he's only entering the second year of his tenure at the helm of the Redskins, Gruden has already been through a lot. Washington limped to a forgettable 3-13 record last year in its first season under the coach.

Washington slogged through a campaign where the only interesting thing surrounding the team was the seemingly never-ending controversy over its Redskins nickname.

Gruden didn't help the stock of his team or himself by letting Griffin take a drubbing last week, and being called a "fat ass" may have been the nicest thing Ferrall said about him.

"How does this guy keep his job, after watching that tonight," Ferrall said after Washington's 21-17 defeat of the Lions last Thursday per the Post. "How do you own, how does Daniel Snyder own the Washington Redskins and let that garbage coach let a star quarterback take that kind of a pummeling and beating. Jay Gruden you suck, you're a hack, you're a crappy coach, you're the devil, you are Satan, you're the worst despicable excuse for a football coach I've ever seen in my life."

Gruden will look to tune-out everything as he sent his players a message heading into the season.

"Block out the negativity surrounding this franchise, and it's our job as a football staff and football team to go out and change the perception of this franchise," he said. "That's what we're trying to do. But we have to go out there and prove it and do it to get the negativity out of here."
